Brendan Grace’s family have thanked the comedian’s fans for their outpouring of sorrow and support and this harrowing time.
In a statement, his family said:
“Brendan’s family wish to express their gratitude for the many messages of support and outpouring of love from his adoring and loyal fans.
We have lost a very bright star. May he watch over us and rest in peace.”
The Dubliner known by many as ‘the Bottler’ had moved to Florida in the early 90s but remained closely tied to Ireland, even owning a pub in Co. Clare.
It had been revealed in recent days that he was battling lung cancer and was in hospital with pneumonia.
After much confusion yesterday, his family confirmed that he passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning at the age of 68. RIP
