In what is already being described as going from bad to worse, Labour parliamentary members have elected Brendan Howlin as their new leader.
Replacing the nationally loathed Dublin West TD Joan Burton, Howlin is set to lead Labour on what is being described as the same bus with a different driver.
The Wexford TD helped Michael Noonan impose much of the austerity to the country over the course of the last government.
