Brexit deal close as British PM is expected to make an announcement this morning

According to reports in the UK this morning there very well could be a major breakthrough in Brexit negotiations today as Theresa May is set to make an announcement in Brussels this morning.

It is understood the British Prime Minister who was locked in negotiations with the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Donald Tusk and the DUP’s Arlene Foster will make a joint announcement regarding the future of the negotiations with Mr Tusk just before 7am this morning.

The announcement comes after the British press reported last night that Mrs May held long and productive discussions with both the Taoiseach and Ms Foster over the future of the Northern Irish border issue.

Although no official agreement has yet been made it is believed all parties are close to coming to an agreement that will see the UK being able to move onto phase two of negotiations.

It is expected that both Mrs May and Mr Tusk will make a statement on the issue at 6:50am just before the stock exchange opens this morning.

The latest news has been seen as major breakthrough for Mrs May and British Government after negotiations broke down on Monday with the DUP objecting to the previous agreement which was negotiated between Mrs May and Mr Varadkar.
