The weekend will be mostly dry and bright, with some showers across the north and west of the country and temperatures reaching 9C in places.
Deep cold will return by Monday, however, with a high possibility of heavy snowfalls on Monday evening and throughout Tuesday.
Cold conditions are expected to remain for most of next week with possibilities of snow and sleet later in the week.
