British Airways flight makes emergency landing at Shannon Airport, eight people treated medically after fumes were detected on board




British Airways flight BA-2201 made an emergency landing in Shannon Airport in Co. Clare earlier today, after fumes were detected on board. Eight people were removed from the aircraft and treated by paramedics.

The flight was en route from Gatwick Airport in England to Cancun in Mexico when the incident occurred. The aircraft circled around and dumped fuel before landing normally a short time later.

Eight crew members were examined by paramedics at Shannon. It is understood that no passengers were affected.

A new aircraft will transport the passengers to their intended destinations on Monday.
