The British Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, has reported that several children have died across the UK from a new disease that might be caused by Covid-19.
The symptoms resemble that of Kawasaki disease, an illness that mostly affects young children and causes high fever, a rash, and inflammation. Severe cases might lead to inflammation of the heart and death.
The cause of Kawasaki is unknown, and until now, it occurred mostly in Asian countries, and rarely, in other continents.
But the disease has now been detected in areas where Covid-19 has been prevalent, leading scientists to think that the coronavirus might be to blame.
Research into this new problem is now ongoing.
