The British ISIS Bride Shamima Begum has lost the first stage of her legal fight to have her former citizenship restored.
Ms. Begum travelled to Syria back in 2015 to join ISIS.
She was found pregnant and living in a Syrian camp this month last year. The Home Office quickly revoked her British citizenship, but lawyers working on her behalf argued this move to be ‘unlawful’, as it effectively made her ‘stateless.’
This case contrasts starkly with the Irish ISIS Bride Lisa Smith, who was welcomed back with open arms by the Irish Government.
