British naval units have intercepted no fewer than three boats packed with migrants attempting to cross the English Channel over the last 48 hours.
The boats, ferrying 52 people in total, were detected off the coast of Kent on Saturday and Sunday.
The migrants claimed to come from Iran and Iraq. All people were rescued and handed over to the relevant authorities.
A spell of calm weather appears to have encouraged migrants to take the perilous journey across the usually treacherous English Channel.
