Budget 2017: Good news for parents as new childcare scheme expected to be unveiled later today

Parents will reportedly receive great news later today as the Government will introduce a new childcare scheme that will see parents of children aged between six months and three years being giving an allowance up to €900 to cover spiralling costs.

The new initiative expected in today’s budget will see the county’s poorest families receiving €8,000 annually under the budget’s childcare arrangement.

The move which was announced earlier this year by the Minister for Children Katherine Zappone’s will apparently be made available to all parents, regardless of what their annual income is.

It is expected the scheme is one of the major priorities of the minority Government after it was given the backing by the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan and Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe.

It is thought the bill will be rapidly passed in the Dáil and the scheme will be made available next year.
