The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has confirmed that the annual Christmas Bonus will be paid to all social welfare recipients this year.
It is understood that the one week bonus will also be given to most people who are currently receiving Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
In an announcement made this afternoon Donohoe confirmed that the bonus will still be issued to social welfare recipients and some PUP recipients at a cost of €510m.
It has also been agreed that those receiving the payment for four months up until December will be entitled to the bonus as the normal 15 month requirement has been reduced for this year only.
The move could potentially see 90% of those currently on PUP getting the bonus in the first week of December.
