There’s an expectation that there will be an increase in the social welfare payment for recipients, but the Minister for Enterprise Heather Humphries has said that it won’t be the €20 figure that so many people need.
Many organisations had called for a €20 increase, but Humphries said that it would cost some €1.5 billion and that it would take away from other areas.
It’s understood that the government are considering a double child benefit payment however.
All that about TDs are set to see an increase of €6,500 to their massive wages already.
However, it looks likely that social welfare recipients will receive a €12 bonus to their weekly payment.
