The former Tánaiste and Labour TD Joan Burton has that both SIPTU workers and Transdev must re-engage in discussions and bring an end to the current Luas strike.
Ms Burton’s comments come as Luas operators have said they will hold further strike action next month if their pay restructure requests are not met. The former Labour party leader told reporters: “I hope the sooner the parties get down and talk.”
“I don’t know if some of the mechanisms of industrial relations can be used further, but I hope they will be used, because Dublin needs good public transport, and we need the Luas, and I hope to see a return as soon as possible.”
