Luas security staff to jump onto the strike bandwagon

luas2

The long running Luas dispute is set to worsen soon, as security staff are now poised to vote for industrial action.

It is understood that security staff have rejected a 6pc pay increase recommended by the Labour Court.

Security staff are currently paid €10.75 an hour (the minimum wage for security staff). The proposed 6pc pay increase would raise that amount to €11.40 per hour by the start of 2018. However, this was flatly rejected, and staff will soon meet to vote for industrial action.

The Luas system would likely grind to a complete halt if the security staff goes on strike action, adding yet more misery for Dublin commuters.
