The Cabinet has agreed to restore the Pandemic Unemployment Payment to €350 per week.
It is understood that Ministers agreed to the package as the country is set to move into tighter Covid-19 restrictions from tonight.
Under the new agreement people who are earning more than €400 per week will be entitled to €350 per week.
Meanwhile it is believed that the Government is working to bring the wage subsidy to the same rate.
The move comes as thousands of people look set to be out of work if the Government chooses to go into Level 5 restrictions.
