Three people have been arrested in connection with the recent cable car accident in Italy that killed 14 people and orphaned one child.
The incident happened near Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. The cabin was just about to reach its destination when the cable snapped, plunging the cabin to a wooded area below.
Investigators are now trying to ascertain why the cable snapped and why an emergency brake did not engage. It has now emerged that the mechanism underwent maintenance work the day before the accident.
