Call for official Investigation into 25 deaths in one privately owned nursing home in Co Cork

Some relatives of the 25 patients who died in a privately run nursing home in Upper Glanmire, Co Cork this year are calling for an investigation into their Covid-19 related deaths, reports the Irish Examiner.

The relatives are concerned about lack of access to their dying loved ones and poor communication with staff at Ballynoe Nursing Home, run by the nursing home chain, CareChoice.

One family had to watch their mother die through a locked window in the rain for two hours. The daughter of the deceased, Christine Brohan described how she had to beg to be let inside to see her mother but staff refused her entry.
Ms Brohan said no staff attended her mother, who died alone.

ā€œThere are too many questions so many relatives of those who died want answers to,ā€ she said.

The relatives say they found out be accident that their loved ones had the coronavirus. Some patients had been moved out of rooms where they had stayed for years.
