Calls for the army to be deployed to Galway City to stop students partying

Footage showing large crowds of young people congregating in Galway City on Monday night has led to calls for the army and defence forces to be deployed to the city to stop a repeat of the so-called “chaos”.

Senator Ollie Crowe said that gardai need help and didn’t stop short of calling for the army to be brought in to assist in stopping young people from breaking the covid restrictions.

Many people in Galway have been complaining today saying that their businesses will have to close if the city’s restriction level is increased to Level 3.

Meanwhile students say that they have a right to party, in particular for Freshers’ Week.
