Breast Cancer Ireland, in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons, will create a cancer research programme named after the late Irish author Emma Hannigan, who passed away recently after a long battle with breast cancer.

Hannigan raised about €126,000 for the charity in the weeks leading to her passing.

The programme will honor the author’s name and help many others afflicted by cancer.
