“Can’t pay – won’t pay” – Irish Water protesters say they won’t pay no matter what Irish Water’s future is

It seems irrelevant what the future of Irish Water is, the message is clear from the protesters.

According to the anti-water charge group “Won’t Pay” say that they will never pay for any water charges irrespective of who gets into power in the new Dail.

After last week’s uncertainty as the immoral tax’s future, George Courtney said:
“It doesn’t matter to us who is in power. We are never going to pay for water in our State. We will take to the streets every single weekend if we have to and our message is clear. We can’t pay and we won’t pay”.

This is coming hot on the heels of Fine Gael’s Simon Coveney claiming that Fine Gael will “look again” at water charges if they get back in power.

Fianna Fail’s Micheal Martin said initially that the party would push water charges down the road a number of years, then he did somewhat of a U-turn and they may keep the charges in some form or other.
