Care home nurse struck off after shocking treatment of partially blind elderly woman is seen on hidden camera

In a shocking case of elder abuse, a care home nurse in the UK has been struck off over her treatment of an elderly women with dementia.

According to the Irish Mirror, disturbing hidden camera footage showed Mamello Herring dragging 85-year-old Angeline Lanera, from a toilet back to her bed while she still had her underwear around her ankles.

Ms Lanera, who can be heard on the video, screaming and crying was then thrown onto the bed using a “drag lift” method which is banned.   She was left on the bed which was stained with urine.  The elderly woman was partially blind, used a walking frame, suffered from psychosis, and needed two carers to bring her to the toilet.

The video was put in place by Ms. Lanera’s son Michael, whose worst suspicions about the “care” being provided by Herring were proven to be true.

Lanera’s excuse for this horrific behaviour was to say that she was “working in a demanding role, working long hours and was exhausted” and that she did not mean to do it.  She also said that she was very ashamed of her actions.  She was struck off regardless.
