If possible, stay indoors this evening as Met Eireann have just issued a Status Red weather warning, the highest level available.
The wind warning specifically applies to exposed coastal and mountain areas of Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick and Kerry, with gusts of 130 to 150km/h possible.
The majority of the country is currently in the path of Storm Rachel, a major storm system that carries high winds and high seas.
The red status warning will remain in place until noon tomorrow, Thursday.
