A carer in the UK has been jailed for 12 years for a litany of sexual abuses against a vulnerable, elderly man who was in his charge.

Mohammed Bari (22) was convicted for carrying out a sustained campaign of abuse against a 65-year-old man who was suffering with dementia while he was working as a carer for his victim in south Essex.

Bari, of Lewes Road, Southend, consistently abused the man in his own home and on at least two occasions forced the vulnerable man in his care to perform degrading sex acts on him.

Fortunately, Bari’s victim was able to tell another carer of his abuse and following a trial at Basildon Crown Court earlier this year, a jury convicted Bari by majority verdict of two counts and acquitted him of one other.

The victim is this case unfortunately died before sentence was passed.
