Cash is king! Bank of Ireland announces rollout of €60 million expansion of ‘state-of-the-art’ ATMs across all branches

A fleet of 664 “state-of-the-art” ATMs will be introduced by Bank of Ireland, as part of an expenditure exceeding €60 million in branch enhancements.

Every branch on the island of Ireland will be affected by the deployment, which is scheduled to start later this year and end in 2027, reports The Mirror.

The new devices can be used for both deposits and withdrawals and will reduce energy consumption by over half.

Most people are also expected to “recycle” currency, meaning that money that has been placed by one person can be taken out by another.

The bank has also promised that as part of the significant investment, it will renovate customer areas at 18 branches this year, enhancing accessibility in specific places. Further branches will be refurbished in 2025, reports The Mirror.

Bank of Ireland’s Retail Ireland CEO Susan Russell spoke on the new investments, saying: “Like any other company, being profitable allows us to improve our business. Given the large number of customers which we serve, major re-investment is required every year. I’m really happy that this latest investment will see all customers across all counties benefit with the most modern and efficient ATMs, whilst also supporting our ESG ambitions through energy reduction,” reports The Mirror.
