French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed that Notre Dame Cathedral will be renovated within five years.
In an address to the nation, Macron, praised the efforts of firefighters and other emergency personnel who worked tiressly to save the historic cathedral.
Although Macron admitted that the disaster was a dark day in French history, he moved to remind people that the fire reminds people that history never stops.
The French President also thanked everyone who gave what they could, before stating that the catastrophe will unite the people of France.
He added that he is hopeful that the renovation project will be completed in five years, and that upon its completion the cathedral will be even more beautiful.
Macron’s comments come as French authorities now look to identify the cause of the fire which caused great damage to one of the world’s most famous landmarks.
Meanwhile the renovation project won’t be short of funding as donations have already surpassed €600m.
