The local community of Ballyjamesduff remains in a state of shock this morning, after the murder-suicide event that resulted in the death of five members of one family.
The victims, named as teachers Alan and Clodagh Hawe, and their three sons Liam, Niall and Ryan, were found inside a house in the town of Ballyjamesduff yesterday morning.
Gardai believe that the father stabbed his family to death, then hanged himself. They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the tragedy at this point.
Post-mortem examinations will be carried out on the bodies this morning.
