The Aurora Borealis may put a rare appearance around Irish shores this weekend, so you might be able to witness a dazzling display of greenish luminosity down these southern latitudes.
A huge amount of solar radiation released in recent days by an epic flare has been lighting up the Earth’s magnetic field like a Christmas Tree, creating the auroras.
Rarely seen outside Earth’s northernmost latitudes, there is a chance we might see them above Ireland over the next two nights, providing there is a break in the clouds and rain.
