Both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael have put it up to Sinn Fein to see whether they can back up their pre election promises and try and form some sort of government.
Mary Lou McDonald has said that she is trying to form a left wing government but that’s looking next to impossible as there’s so many factions that would need to have their say.
Fine Gael have announced that they want to go into opposition and that Sinn Fein should try and form a government while Fianna Fail have said that they’ll talk to everyone, including Fine Gael again, except Sinn Fein. They said that absolutely no circumstances will see them talking to Sinn Fein.
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein are saying that they’re going to go ahead and try and form a government regardless of what the other parties have said.
