A national charity that supports older people has urged the public to check in on elderly relatives, neighbours and friends over the Christmas season, reports Breaking News.
ALONE will deliver 2,500 Christmas dinners to older people across the country on Christmas Day, reports Breaking News.
Speaking on Newstalk, ALONE chief executive Seán Moynihan said the festive period can be particularly challenging for some older people.
“I think, for all of us, Christmas is a reflective time, and ultimately it is when there’s plenty of joy and parties,” he said, reports Breaking News.
“But, if you have been bereaved this year, if you are isolated, or if you’ve suffered bouts of ill health, it’s really difficult then for you to face Christmas on your own,” reports Breaking News.
