Cheers! Study claims that drinking wine could help prevent brain disease

Well, well, well… in case you needed a reason to have a drink, we’ve got a good one for you now!

A recent study carried out in the University of Rochester Medical Center shows that low (come on now, ladies I said LOW not a bottle) doses of wine can help preserve brain health and prevent Alzheimer’s Disease among others.

The study’s research focused on the glymphatic system, which is the brain’s unique cleaning process and could see significant benefits in drinking small amounts of wine.

It’s understood that the system pumps cerebral spinal fluid into the brain tissue and then flushes away waste, effectively cleaning it. The waste includes the proteins associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia so it’s extremely significant.

The study also shows that a good sleep pattern and plenty of exercise can help with preventing such diseases also.

This research, conducted on mice, looked at the impact of both acute and chronic alcohol exposure.

The other side of the study is that it showed excessive or very heavy drinking can be as detrimental to one’s health as the benefits of light drinking.

However, if you look at the up side – you now have a good excuse to pop open that bottle of Jacob’s Creek that’s sitting on the shelf.
