The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has called on Leaving Certificate students to be cautious ahead of their exams.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr Holohan urged teenagers across the country to be careful and to restrict their movements as much as they can before exams get underway next month.
Holohan said students should restrict their social contacts as much as they can.
He added that no one wants to end the school year by becoming infected and being unable to sit their exams.
