Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan suggests that future Covid-19 boosters may not be needed for the entire population

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that future Covid-19 booster vaccines may not be needed for the entire population.

Speaking before an Oireachtas Health Committee Dr Holohan said that boosters may only be needed for people with certain vulnerabilities rather than a nationwide rollout.

Despite his views on the vaccination programme Dr Holohan said the the decision would ultimately rest with the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.

However Dr Holohan did state that he and NPHET will be offering their advice to NIAC, but reiterated that nothing was certain and that such a decision is one of many possibilities.
