As lockdown restrictions continue to life, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tony Holohan, has refused to agree that NPHET should be stood down as it is no longer required.
According to RTE, at a meeting of the Oireachtas Health Committee, Dr. Holohan said that he thinks there will still be a need for a “multi-professional” advisory panel going forward and he said that he has written to NIAC so that they can consider the future role of ongoing vaccination.
He also said that the full winding down of NPHET will be something that the Minister for Health to decide. Stephen Donnelly has recently been in the news when he was criticised for traveling to Dubai and a conference that many felt was unnecessary, particularly at the present time.
