The 40 children who died in the 1916 Rising were remembered at the special ceremonial event this afternoon. It was atteneded by over 200 children and young people at Áras an Uachtaráin this afternoon.
The ceremony featured a lantern procession, the burial of a time capsule, and a tree-planting ceremony. Minister Children Katherine Zappone also attended where children presented their vision for Ireland.
Consultation were held where children expressed their concerns such as racism, bullying, smoking, homelessness and poverty.
The consultations also revealed the pressures many young people experience in the form of exams and the Leaving Cert points race.
