Chinese authorities issue ‘lockdown’ orders for a second city, in an effort to prevent the coronavirus from spreading

Chinese authorities have issued a ‘lockdown’ order for the city of Huanggang, in an effort to prevent the deadly coronavirus from spreading.

The move follows a similar order for the city of Wuhan, where the disease was first detected.

Huanggang is home to around 6m people, while about 11m people live in Wuhan.

No fewer than 500 people are known to have been infected, with 17 deaths reported so far.
