Hundreds of thousands of the woman’s followers watched videos of her life in the mountains of Sichuan province.

The case highlighted violence against women in China. A survey suggests that a quarter of all Chinese women have been victims of domestic violence.

The mother-of-two children reportedly contacted police about her husband’s abuse during their marriage, only to be told it was a family matter.

When her husband Tang Lu was sentenced to death, the court in Aba Prefecture, a remote rural area in southwestern Sichuan Province where a large number of ethnic Tibetans live, ruled that hus crime was was cruel and bad.

In June 2020, Lamu divorced Tang, who the court found had a history of violence against her.

About three months later, at her father’s house, he doused her in gasoline and set it on fire. He suffered burns to 90% of his body and died two weeks later.
