The Christian rugby superstar known around the world as Israel Folau, the man who quoted from the bible and lost his job as a result, has started a second fundraiser after his initial GoFundME page was closed down.

His fundraising campaign is to fight a court case after he had his contract terminated by Rugby Australia in May. There has been a heated debate about Christianity, religion and free speech since he quoted the bible earlier this summer.

GoFundMe closed his account but the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) stepped in and started a new fundraising campaign raising more than A$760,000 in donations in a matter of hours.

Mr Folau is a staunch Christian who argues his contract termination was an unlawful act of religious discrimination and although some people are calling for his contract to remain over, many believe he has a right of religious freedom and of free speech to say what he believes.
