According to new studies, Tequila- which is made from the Agave plant- is proven to lower blood sugar.
A new report from the American Chemical Society on the effects of tequila on blood glucose levels last year, shows that the naturally occurring sugars in the agave plant called agavins (not agave syrup) are non-digestible.
Researchers divided mice into two packs.
One were given a standard diet, and the other were given a standard diet, and then drank water with agavins added.
The researchers noted that the mice with the added water not only ended up eating less overall, they also had lower blood sugar than the mice who consumed their regular diets.
