Night is falling on a warzone in Citywest as enraged locals and nationalists clashed with GardaĆ outside the taxpayer-funded migrant hotel, demanding the expulsion of all asylum seekers. Thousands of protesters, fuelled by the brutal rape of a 10-yr-old Irish girl by an African national, torched effigies and threw bottles and flares.
The assault occurred Monday at the ā¬148.2 million Citywest Hotel, now a sprawling IPAS center for 1,600 migrants. The suspect, a 32-year-old from West Africa facing deportation since March, allegedly lured the Tusla-placed child from a playground before the attack. Arrested at the scene, he faces charges under the 2006 Sexual Offences Act. The girl, suffering severe trauma, is under armed guard in Tallaght Hospital.
Chants of “Deport them all!” drowned out garda sirens as crowds breached barricades, prompting tear gas and baton charges. “This is our home, not a crime hub!” roared organizer Tommy Murphy, flanked by Irish flags and “Ireland for the Irish” placards. Social media exploded with footage of burning bins and injured officers.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan condemned the scenes. Many people are demanding he comes out and condemns the migrant rather than the protesters.
