Close to 70,000 Ukrainian men have returned to Ukraine to fight, says Defence Minister

More than 66,200 Ukrainian men have returned from abroad to fight, Ukraine’s defence minister said.

Oleksii Reznikov said on Saturday that 66,224 Ukrainian men had returned from abroad to join the fight against the Russian invasion.

“That’s how many men returned from abroad at this moment to defend their country from the horde. These are 12 more combat and motivated brigades! Ukrainians, we are invincible,” Reznikov said in an online post.

According to state media, the Russian military today agreed to honour a ceasefire in two regions of Ukraine from Saturday to allow the evacuation of civilians.

The Russian Defence Ministry, in a statement from RIA Novosti and TASS, said it had agreed evacuation routes with Ukrainian forces to allow civilians to leave the strategic port of Mariupol in the southeast and the eastern city of Volnovakha.
