Coca-Cola was forced to cancel the last stop of its Christmas truck tour for 2019, which was due to take place in the O2 in London last Sunday, over fears of protests the UK Express has reported.
In a statement, an official for Coca-Cola said, “We’re sorry to announce that the Coca-Cola Christmas truck will no longer visit The O2 on Sunday (December 15) due to a demonstration planned to target the truck.”
The image of the red, fairy light spangled, 6.5 metre-long and 13-tonne truck became synonymous with Christmas after first appearing in Coca-Cola adverts in 1995.
The Coca-Cola company has been criticized in recent years for the level of its sugar content and its appeal to children in its advertisements.
In response Coca-Cola have released zero-sugar products in recent years and as part of this year’s tour they have pledged to donate 10p (Sterling) to the charity ‘Crisis’ in exchange for every can placed in their recycling bins during their tour.
