The end of a non-existent summer will bring about cold temperatures and heavy showers over the next few days.
Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with an average of 14-17C, about three degrees lower than normal for this time of year.
There will be heavy showers at times most days during the week due to a belt of rain approaching from south-west England.
Patches of fog are also expected to appear in the midlands as temperatures drop.
