Cold weekend ahead: Met Eireann say temperatures are to plummet this weekend with snowfall expected in most places

According to Met Eireann weather conditions are set to turn a lot more wintery this weekend.

The national forecaster say the country will see widespread snowfall with temperatures dropping to -5 degrees Celsius.

It is understood the sudden cold snap comes as arctic winds are expected to sweep across the country from Saturday.

Met Eireann also say the cold snap is expected to last throughout February until March and possibly until even April.
