Coleen Rooney says Wayne shouldn’t go out unsupervised but stands by her man for better or worse

Coleen Rooney made the suggestion that her husband Wayne probably shouldn’t go out ‘unsupervised’ while discussing the footballer’s drinking problems in a new Amazon Prime documentary.

The new film, titled Rooney, focuses on the England and Manchester United striker’s illustrious career and personal life, from his days as a rising teenage sports star to his ups and downs on and off the pitch.

In the documentary, which starts Friday, Coleen and Wayne talk about his past behaviour toward other women, and Coleen explains why she stayed with him.

The 35-yr-old TV personality and author admits her children Kai, Cass, Klay and Kit have all played a role in their relationship continuing.

‘That was part of it, but also, we still love each other,’ she says.

‘We have [made it work], we’re not the lovey-dovey type anyway, we love to have a laugh together and we work well together.’

‘But, it’s happened and I’ve got to live with it and if I couldn’t cope with living with it, I would’ve ended the relationship.’

Wayne confessed to recruiting prostitutes in Liverpool when he was dating Coleen, saying at the time: ‘I was young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature and before I had settled down with Coleen.’

According to the Metro, addressing his indiscretions , Wayne, 36, says ‘Stuff which has happened in the past with girls for instance, of course, it’s the stuff I regret, so much I feel there’s stuff stuck against my name.

‘I think it’s important because it is part of what’s happened with my life growing up and it’s stuck and maybe tarnished my reputation as a person.’

In the documentary, Coleen also goes into more detail about her husband’s drinking problems.

‘I think the first time, we were young so there was a lot of argument, Wayne was hanging around with people that weren’t good for him,’ she says, referring to an incident from early on in their relationship.

‘Lovely people, but together, with alcohol, not good. I told him that from day one. I didn’t want him to stop being friends with them, but I just didn’t want him to go out in situations with them because they got themselves into bad situations.’

‘It’s not a good thing for Wayne to be unsupervised,’ she said.
