Michael O’Leary hopes that within five years, Ryanair flights will be completely free. His aspirations for free travel will see the airline make its money by sharing income from airport shops and restaurants instead of tickets.
O’Leary – speaking at the Airport Operators Association conference in London – says that such deals could be possible due to the deals the budget airline can strike with European airports.
He said, ‘I have this vision that in the next five to ten years, the air fares on Ryanair will be free, in which case the flights will be full, and we will be making money out of sharing the airport revenues, of all the people who will be running through the airports, and getting a share of the shopping and retail revenues.’
