Concerns raised about how thousands of aborted Irish babies will be disposed of in the event of the Eighth Amendment being repealed

Concerns have been raised about what procedures will be put in place to dispose of the bodies of unwanted babies after their lives are ended, should government succeed in bring abortion on demand to Ireland.

It was revealed that the UK’s National Health Service are burning the bodies of aborted and miscarried babies to heat hospitals.

A Channel 4 Dispatches investigation exposed 27 NHS Trusts have engaging in this horrifying practice. Up to 15,000 babies were incinerated with medical waste in furnaces designed to help heat hospitals.

The mothers of the dead babies burned in the furnaces were told their children were being cremated in much more dignified manner.

There are on average around 190,000 babies aborted England and Wales every year, that is around one fifth of all pregnancies that end with the termination of the child’s life.

It is certain that should abortion on demand be legalised in Ireland the number of Irish women seeking to terminate their unborn child’s life will increase dramatically as was seen after liberalisation of abortion laws in the U.S and UK.

The disposal of thousands of dead babies could present a logistical problem for the HSE.
