Convicted drug smuggler Michaela McCollum has returned to Ireland, after being released from prison back in April.
Ms. McCollum, along with Briton Melissa Reid, was detained at Lima Airport back in 2013 while carrying almost 2m worth of cocaine in her luggage. Herself and her British partner in crime were sentenced to eight years in prison each, but both were released early on parole. Ms. Reid returned to the UK in June.
Ms. McCollum arrived in Dublin Aiport in a late flight yesterday evening, and had nothing to say to waiting media.
In the first interview she gave upon her release from a Peruvian prison, she referred to herself as a ‘good person’ who made a bad choice in a ‘moment of madness.’
