Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh GAA Stadium is being used as a temporary measure to house asylum seekers.
The Integration Department said that although the stadium is not ideal, it is being used while alternative accommodation is found as soon as possible.
Asylum seekers will be housed in large reception rooms while local club matches continue on site.
The Irish Examiner reports that a group of 80 people seeking international protection in Ireland arrived at the stadium on Tuesday and will stay there for the next four weeks.
