Britain’s flagship carrier is reportedly ‘fighting for survival’, due to a sharp decline in bookings and the introduction of travel bans because of the coronavirus pandemic.
British Airways CEO Alex Cruz has said that the airline is likely to cut jobs and ground aircraft if it is to survive in the long term.
The coronavirus has exacted a heavy toll on the airline industry so far as people canceled bookings and postponed holidays en masse.
Regional airline Flybe recently collapsed, and Lufthansa is reportedly asking for state help.
