Coronavirus: Calls to close schools and colleges after case detected in Trinity College Dublin

Following the detection of Covid-19 in Dublin’s Trinity College, there have been calls from social media users for all schools and colleges to close temporarily until the HSE and the government get to grips with the the true extent of the coronavirus outbreak in Ireland.

Late on Thursday night, Trinity College Dublin was confirmed to have been hit with the Coronavirus.

It’s understood that the college has written to ALL of its staff and students last night to let them know that a case of Covid-19 has been detected on the campus

The letter, which The Liberal has seen, says that a section of its Dublin city centre campus will now close as a precautionary measure to stop and spreading but that the rest of the university will open and operate as normal and students and staff are welcome to still come in this morning

However, the college said that it’s a moving situation and that it advised its 18,000 students and 3,000 staff that they’ll be kept up to date from Trinity and advice from the Health Service Executive.

It’s understood that they’re working closely with health executives to decide on what the best next step is to contain the detection of Covid-19.
