Homewares and fashion retailer Laura Ashley appears to be the first big retail name to fall victim to the relentless onward march of the coronavirus.
It is understood that the embattled retailer had sought an emergency £15m cash injection to avoid bankruptcy, but last-ditch talks reportedly failed.
If Laura Ashley collapses, about 2,700 jobs might be at risk.
